Had plans to go to a 7:30 class after work, but decided to take a nap instead 🙂

June 4
Went to another yoga class at the gym. Â It was from 10:30-11:30 and gave me just enough time to get ready for work at 1. Â It was a class that focused primarily on hips and thighs. Â We held each pose for several minutes at a time. Â It was really tough and I was a bit sore afterward.
June 3rd
Went to my second yoga class at the gym. Â This was a Sunday morning class. Â It was the yogi’s birthday and she did not take it easy on us. Â She was amazing! Â She held poses that I could not imagine sustaining, while speaking! This class was much faster paced and focused on muscle toning as well as balance and flexibility. Â I will try to make it as often as I can because it was an incredible workout.
Went to see Snow White and The Huntsman tonight with some amazing friends. Â Had drinks and tapas at Macaroni Grill after and definitely cheated on my diet. Â You can’t say no to great food, great friends, and okay movies.
June 1st
Went to my first class during yoga month at the gym by my new apartment. Â It is an amazing gym… racquetball courts, punching bags, pool, tons of machines. Â Totally awesome. Â The class was at noon on a Friday, which is generally referred to as lunchtime yoga. Â The room was small and muggy and about 15 people were in the class. Â It was really easy to follow and I didn’t have to take many breaks. Â It was an amazing workout because my shoulders, back, stomach, and thighs were burning and sore the next day.
June – Yoga Month
I thought for a long time about what I wanted to focus on this month. I have a growing list of things I want to do… gardening, sewing, kickboxing, biking, glass blowing, swing dancing, playing the guitar, and learning another language, but yoga wasn’t on there. And this month’s focus has to be epic. This is my re-introduction to the world of newing and my full maiden voyage on the new website. I wanted to choose something relaxing, yet social. Something active, yet subdued (I’m not ready to start training for any more half marathons any time soon.) I wanted something positive. Yoga seemed like the perfect fit.
I have taken a few yoga classes before at my gym. I have enjoyed them, the handful of times that I’ve gone. But there are so many variations and forms of yoga that I want to try. I want to do yoga in weird places, like the waterfront or on hikes. I want go from beginner to intermediate. I am also going to be continuing the anti-inflammatory diet my doctor put me on 3 weeks ago. I will be tracking any weight loss or inches dropped in the process. My goal this month is to do yoga 4-5 times a week at various locations and possibly lose 5-10 pounds.
Snoop Bloggy Blog
Alright, WordPress. Â Here’s the deal. Â My name is Abbie. Â I am 29 and live in Portland, Oregon. Â I am like most people who devoted a lot of time and energy to other people and work. Â I found myself not even knowing what I enjoyed doing. Â I started a project on November 1st, 2010 to do more and learn more. Â I made a list of all the things I wanted to do, but never had time for… painting, skydiving, fencing, learning Japanese, dancing, running, glass blowing… the list went on and on. Â I decided to take one thing on my list and focus as much spare time and energy on it as possible. Â I spent months training for a half marathon (which I ran in October 2011,) learning to bake (scones, bread, pretzels, and cookies,) eating healthy (mostly raw fruits and veggies,) drinking wine (easiest month ever,) getting fit (taking zumba, Krav Maga, yoga, and TurboKick classes,) doing community service (for the Oregon Food Bank, community gardens, and raising $1500 for the Children’s Cancer Association,) trying my luck at online dating (and meeting my current live-in boo,) hiking (taking several trips all around Oregon and Washington,) and finally blogging (you can read all about my past adventures at http://www.thirtydaysofnew.tumblr.com )
So, I’ve had my tumblr for almost a year. Â I found that it was lacking several key factors that I have found on wordpress… so here I am. Â I thought for a long time about incorporating previous posts onto this site and actually had them all transferred over for a few days before I trashed them all. Â This is thirty days of NEW! Â I am so apt to creating new adventures every month but I didn’t recognize the opportunity to new-ify my bloggy blog. Â This is a clean slate… the forever-promised organization and brevity might have a chance in the new format. Well, that’s basically it… I hope you enjoy.
