June 3rd

Went to my second yoga class at the gym.  This was a Sunday morning class.  It was the yogi’s birthday and she did not take it easy on us.  She was amazing!  She held poses that I could not imagine sustaining, while speaking! This class was much faster paced and focused on muscle toning as well as balance and flexibility.  I will try to make it as often as I can because it was an incredible workout.

Went to see Snow White and The Huntsman tonight with some amazing friends.  Had drinks and tapas at Macaroni Grill after and definitely cheated on my diet.  You can’t say no to great food, great friends, and okay movies.

June – Yoga Month

I thought for a long time about what I wanted to focus on this month. I have a growing list of things I want to do… gardening, sewing, kickboxing, biking, glass blowing, swing dancing, playing the guitar, and learning another language, but yoga wasn’t on there. And this month’s focus has to be epic. This is my re-introduction to the world of newing and my full maiden voyage on the new website. I wanted to choose something relaxing, yet social. Something active, yet subdued (I’m not ready to start training for any more half marathons any time soon.) I wanted something positive. Yoga seemed like the perfect fit.

I have taken a few yoga classes before at my gym. I have enjoyed them, the handful of times that I’ve gone. But there are so many variations and forms of yoga that I want to try. I want to do yoga in weird places, like the waterfront or on hikes. I want go from beginner to intermediate. I am also going to be continuing the anti-inflammatory diet my doctor put me on 3 weeks ago. I will be tracking any weight loss or inches dropped in the process. My goal this month is to do yoga 4-5 times a week at various locations and possibly lose 5-10 pounds.
